Yes, jaggery would also add weight when taken in excess. Despite being a natural sweetener, it has large amount of calorie and carbohydrates like sugar. Consumed in large amounts, the additional calories may be stored as fat, which gradually accumulates weight. Nonetheless, moderate use such as a teaspoon per day can quench a sweet craving and avoid excess consumption of refined sugar hence it is not as bad as processed sweeteners.
