The coneflowers can be reproduced by seed propagation, division, or cuttings. The sowing of seeds may be done in the early spring or using the dried flower-heads. Dividing is done after 3 to 4 years so that the mature plants do not overcrowd and revitalize the growth. They do not need a lot of care and resistance to pests, though sometimes pruning is necessary to keep them in shape and healthier. In colder zones, trim leaf heads during the winter to feed birds and trim off dead foliage at the start of the spring to open the way to new leaves.
