The Dartmouth Independent was founded in 2004 to provide an alternative to the polarized campus media landscape. Created by Anoop Rathod, Michael Greene, and Pooneet Kant, the publication sought to deliver balanced political and social commentary. After a hiatus, it has returned in 2025 with renewed purpose—to continue its legacy of fair, independent journalism that bridges divides and encourages thoughtful discourse within the Dartmouth community.
